Robert Dorschel

Former Research Fellow

Robert Dorschel is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Sociology and member of Darwin College at the University of Cambridge. He holds a BA from the University of Kiel and a MA from the Humboldt-University in Berlin, where he studied sociology and political science. From 2017-2018, Robert worked as an academic assistant to Prof. Jutta Allmendinger at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB). From 2018-2019 he was a visiting graduate student at the Department of Sociology at Duke University. Since 2019 he is co-convener of the Cambridge Technology and New Media Research Cluster.

Robert conducts research in the fields of digital labour, culture and social theory. His dissertation focuses on the class of digital professionals. Deploying qualitative methods, he analyses the socio-material practices and subjectivities of high-skilled tech workers in Germany and the U.S.
