Dr. habil. Lena Ulbricht

Research Group Lead

Lena Ulbricht is a political scientist. She completed her habilitation in political science at the University of Bremen with a thesis on algorithmic governance and the role of the state. To earn her doctorate at the Humboldt University in Berlin, she wrote a monograph on policy learning in German federalism. Previously, she studied political science at the Free University of Berlin and urban studies at Sciences Po Paris. Lena Ulbricht’s research focuses on the interplay between governance and digital technologies. She also explores societal ambitions to shape digital technologies and technology corporations, for example through state regulation and civil society propositions. Lena Ulbricht is spokesperson of the DVPW working group “Digitalisation and Politics”, co-founder of the German Network “Digital Societies in Latin America” and co-host of the podcast “PurpleCode – intersectional feminist perspectives on digital societies”.
