New Policy Paper: Feedback on the Delegated Regulation on Data Access
A new Policy Paper offers feedback on the Delegated Regulation on Data Access outlined in the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA). It draws insights from extensive discussions with empirical platform researchers across Germany and Europe.
In the first section of the paper, authors Lukas Seiling, Jakob Ohme, and Ulrike Klinger emphasize clarifications and proposed procedures for non-public data access that are considered practical, feasible, or otherwise beneficial to researchers.
The second section identifies additional areas for improvement in the draft text, focusing on the data access procedure, the data access portal, data types, and the documentation and modalities associated with data access.
The Policy Paper was prepared by the DSA40 Data Access Collaboratory as a response to the public consultation on the rules for researchers to access online platform data under the Digital Services Act launched by the European Commission. The DSA 40 Data Access Collaboratory is a joint project of the Weizenbaum Institute and the European University Viadrina.
