Pablo Beytía

Person

Pablo Beytía is a research fellow at the “Quantification and Social Regulation” group of the Weizenbaum Institute and a PhD candidate at the Department of Social Sciences of Humboldt University of Berlin. He is also director of the social analytics platform MonitorSocial.cl and lecturer in digital sociology at the Catholic University of Chile.

His doctoral research focuses on how Wikipedia frames information about human beings. By analyzing large datasets of biographies from the encyclopedia, he studies geopolitical inequalities of digital memory, social conditions that favor the concentration of knowledge, and theories about the power of digital platforms.

Pablo is a sociologist with a background in humanities and computational social science. He holds a master’s degree in sociology from the Catholic University of Chile and a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Chile. His doctoral research is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Chilean National Agency for Research and Development (ANID).
