Dr. Irma Klünker

Irma Klünker is an associated researcher in the research group norm setting and decision processes at Weizenbaum Institute. She is a science policy officer at Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures in the department science policy and internationalization.

Her research focuses on genetic sequence data in patent applications, in particular as a potential indicator for pathogen access and benefit-sharing under a potential World Health Organization Pandemic Treaty. Other research interests include intellectual property law, open data, and the law of genetic engineering.

Irma Klünker holds a Ph.D. in law from Humboldt University of Berlin (supervised by Prof. Dr. Herbert Zech) and a B.Sc. in bioinformatics from Free University Berlin. She is currently a trainee lawyer (Referendarin) at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin (Kammergericht Berlin).
