Prof. Dr. Hanna Krasnova
About
Hanna Krasnova is a director and principal investigator at the Weizenbaum Institute, where she is heading the research group “Well-being in the Digital World”. She is also a Professor of Business Informatics, esp. Social Media and Society at the University of Potsdam in Germany.
Her research is situated at the intersection of technology use, well-being, and the societal value of digital applications. Specifically, she investigates the influence of technology use on users’ psychological well-being, perceptions, and behavior, as well as the mechanisms that underlie these relationships. She is particularly interested in understanding how different content types, users’ mindsets, and behavioral patterns affect users’ well-being, perceptions, behavior, and views of society as a whole. Ultimately, these insights could help develop interventions that support users in healthier and more sustainable use of digital applications. Her publications have appeared in numerous outlets, including Information Systems Research (ISR), European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Journal of Information Technology (JIT), Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE), and the Proceedings of the International Conference on Information Systems.
In the past, she has frequently served as a track chair at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), and the International Conference Wirtschaftsinformatik. She has also co-chaired the Doctoral Consortium at European Conference on Information Systems 2018 and 2022, and recently served as a Program Co-Chair atthe European Conference on Information Systems 2025. Additionally, she has been involved on the editorial team for the Special Issue of the Weizenbaum Journal of the Digital Society dedicated to “Well-being in the Digital Society”. Further, she is a Senior Editor at the European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), a member of the Department Editorial Board at Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE), and an Associate Editor at the Weizenbaum Journal of the Digital Society.
