Prof. Dan L. Burk

Dan L. Burk is Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine, where he was a founding member of the faculty.  Professor Burk teaches and writes on Patent Law, Copyright, Electronic Commerce, and related topics.  An internationally prominent authority on issues related to high technology, he is perhaps best known for his work in the area of “cyberlaw", where he has been a leading figure in the debates surrounding Internet jurisdiction, trespass to computers, and the deployment of digital rights management systems. 

He holds degrees from Brigham Young University (Microbiology), Northwestern University (Molecular Biology and Biochemistry), Arizona State University (Law), and Stanford University (Law).  During the Fall of 2019 he will be a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Weizenbaum Institute, working with the Study Group on Governance and Norm Setting.
