Prof. Dan L. Burk

Dan L. Burk ist Professor für Rechtswissenschaften an der University of California, Irvine, wo er Gründungsmitglied der Fakultät war.  Professor Burk lehrt und schreibt über Patentrecht, Urheberrecht, elektronischen Handel und verwandte Themen.

Als international führende Autorität in Fragen der Hochtechnologie ist er vielleicht am bekanntesten für seine Arbeit auf dem Gebiet des "Cyberrechts", wo er eine führende Rolle in den Debatten um die Internet-Gerichtsbarkeit, die unbefugte Nutzung von Computern und die Einführung von Systemen zur Verwaltung digitaler Rechte spielte. 

Er hat Abschlüsse von der Brigham Young University (Mikrobiologie), der Northwestern University (Molekularbiologie und Biochemie), der Arizona State University (Recht) und der Stanford University (Recht).

Dan L. Burk is Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine, where he was a founding member of the faculty.  Professor Burk teaches and writes on Patent Law, Copyright, Electronic Commerce, and related topics.  An internationally prominent authority on issues related to high technology, he is perhaps best known for his work in the area of “cyberlaw,” where he has been a leading figure in the debates surrounding Internet jurisdiction, trespass to computers, and the deployment of digital rights management systems.  He holds degrees from Brigham Young University (Microbiology), Northwestern University (Molecular Biology and Biochemistry), Arizona State University (Law), and Stanford University (Law).  During the Fall of 2019 he will be a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Weizenbaum Institute, working with the Study Group on Governance and Norm Setting.
