Prof. Dr. Christian Nuernbergk

Former Research Fellow

Christian Nuernbergk is a Professor of Media and Communication at Trier University, where he specializes in Public Sphere Research. He completed his doctoral degree at the University of Münster. He studied communication science, political science, and economic policy. His doctoral research focused on Follow-up Communication in the Networked Public Sphere. He worked as Postdoctoral Researcher at LMU Munich and held temporary professorships in Dortmund and Trier. Since 2022, he has been chair of the DGPuK Journalism Division.

At Trier University, Christian Nuernbergk's research focuses on journalism on the internet, particularly the use of social media, journalistic networks, and the relationship between politics and journalism.

In September and October 2023, he will be a Fellow in the Dynamics of Digital News Research Group, where he will contribute specifically to research on conflict dynamics in networks of political journalism.
