Dr. Alba Ribera Martinez

Über

Alba Ribera Martínez is a Fellow at the Weizenbaum Institute, a Lecturer in Competition Law at University Villanueva (Madrid) and a Visiting Professor at the Brussels Study Center. She formerly worked for the Spanish competition authority's Chief of Staff and Council. She completed her PhD in Competition Law at University Carlos III of Madrid by receiving the highest recognition (summa cum laude), where she explored the intersection between Privacy-Enhancing Technologies and EU competition law under the thesis 'Move Fast and Break Nothing: EU Competition Law Interaction with Data Protection Interests'. She also holds a number of editorial positions, notably at Journal of European Competition Law & Practice (JECLAP), Kluwer Competition Law Blog and CentroCompetencia Chile.

Her current research interests include digital regulation, tech law, fundamental rights and data protection regulation. Currently, she’s researching on the impacts of ex ante and asymmetrical digital regulations on the competitive dynamics of the market and the regulatory mechanisms that different jurisdictions around the World are passing to address market power in those digital spaces. 
To that effect, she has published her work on several peer-reviewed journals and lectures on the particularities of the European approach in universities around the world, including the European University Institute, India’s Jindal Global School of Law or Canada’s Western University.
