Dr. Thomas Kox

Research Group Lead

Thomas Kox studied geography with minors in political science and sociology at the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, at the University College Cork, and at the University of Potsdam (doctorate). From 2011 to 2019, he worked as researcher at Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) and from 2019 to 2023 at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). His work is on the perception and use of uncertainty, disaster and civil protection practices, as well as weather impacts, warnings and citizen science. Since November 2022, he leads the research group “Digitalization and Networked Security” at the Weizenbaum Institute.
