This cross-sectional format accompanies the transformation to a sustainable networked society. The transformation processes observed include the sustainable digitization of energy networks, mobility, and education, but also substitution effects in the working environments of the future.
The participating research groups are dedicated to the overarching question of how information and communication technology systems (ICT) will have a positive or negative impact on achieving the UN sustainability goals of Agenda 2030.
In addition to the participation of researchers of the format in symposia (such as the Great Transformation Conference of the German Sociological Association), the participating research groups are jointly developing the knowledge and workshop tool "Weizenbaum Knowledge Hypercube". A prototype of the Hypercube was presented in December 2019 at the research conference "Shaping the Future: Digital and Sustainable", organized jointly with the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
