Inclusive Civic Tech supported Municipality Development

Inclusive civic tech supported municipality development: Leveraging trust, transparency and participatory citizenship by multistakeholder integration.

Objectives

This project provides a meta-analysis of research on the use of CivicTech, with a special focus on municipal development.

The objectives are:

  1. to review the state of research on needs, expectations and challenges that arise in multi-stakeholder environments of CivicTech-supported socio-ecological transformation processes in municipalities,
  2. and to develop a workshop format that allows these issues to be addressed by integrating the perspectives of all stakeholders in municipal transformation activities.

Methods

Drawing on approaches from public administration, urban planning, cultural studies, communication and management and computer science, the project pursues an inter- and transdisciplinary multi-method approach that includes literature analysis and expert interviews.  In particular, the analysis aims to identify the most important non-technological factors: Factors that lead to more trust and transparency in urban transformation processes as well as to a stronger participation of all actors involved in the utilization of CivicTech potentials.
