Prof. Dr. Shelley Boulianne
About
Shelley Boulianne earned her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in December 2007. She has held professor positions at the MacEwan University (Canada) and Université Catholique de Lille (France) as well as research fellowships at the Weizenbaum Institute and the Digital Democracy Center at the University of Southern Denmark. Dr. Boulianne will work with the Digital News Dynamics group to understand German Members of Parliament's tweets related to covid-19, climate change, and the war in Ukraine.
This research examines changes in attention to these policy issues and user engagement (likes, shares, etc.) with different policy posts. This project builds on research that she has conducted on the 2019 and 2021 Canadian federal elections where she looked at party leaders' attention to climate change and covid-19 policy issues as well as user engagement with these types of posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
