Prof. Dr. Shelley Boulianne

Former Research Fellow

Shelley Boulianne earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) from 2002-2007. From 2009 to 2022, she was a professor at MacEwan University (Canada). She is interested in civic and political participation. Her research focuses on the role of digital media use for citizens’ engagement in civic and political life. This work in particular has been published in Information, Communication, & Society, New Media & Society, and Political Communication. She also has a line of research about public consultation and public opinion focused on the topic of climate change.

During her time at the Weizenbaum Institute, she will be working on her book titled, Digital Trends in Western Democracies, and papers using cross-national survey data gathered in January and February 2023 (Germany, Canada, US, UK, and France). She is happy to collaborate on papers using the 2023 survey data or to help others working on systematic reviews/meta-analysis.
