Dr. Philip Meier
About
Philip Meier is an associate researcher at the Weizenbaum Institute, where he develops formats for making insights on digital platforms accessible to wider publics. Together with Volker Stocker, he is producing a new season of the Talking About Platforms podcast, addressing topics such as platform regulation, data economy, infrastructure governance, and innovation dynamics through interviews with scholars and practitioners. The aim is to translate key research findings while bringing practice-informed perspectives back into academic debate.
Meier holds a doctorate in media economics from the Berlin University of the Arts, complemented by research stays at Stanford University, BI Norwegian Business School, and the University of St. Gallen. His research interests include digital platform strategies, AI-enabled value creation, data-driven business models, and innovation processes. His work is qualitative, interdisciplinary, and strongly practice-oriented, bridging conceptual research with real-world application.
In addition to his academic work, Meier leads project delivery at Peregrine.ai, where he oversees international integration and R&D projects for AI-based mobility solutions. This role enriches his applied understanding of data-driven innovation and informs both his research and teaching. He also communicates research insights through formats such as the Talking About Platforms podcast and frequently speaks on platform economy, AI, and digital transformation at conferences and workshops.
