About

Paul Krauß examines the impact of the platform economy on the public agenda. Empirical analyses and normative-theoretical considerations intertwine here: How do the recommendation algorithms of large tech companies determine ‘relevant’ content? How should they ideally do so in order not to undermine the orientational function of news media? Factors that covertly distort the feedback mechanism “between man and machine“ must also be taken into account: both the potential political self-interests of platform owners such as Elon Musk and the exogenous influence through bots or troll armies.

Investigated the X algorithm together with Dublin-based data analysts prior to the 2025 federal election. Worked as a format developer for educational institutions and in science communication at the Chair of Political Theory, Philosophy, and History of Ideas at the University of Regensburg (“Pillars of Democracy”). Political science, theatre and media studies in Erlangen and democracy studies in Regensburg. Alumnus of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
