Lion Wedel is doctoral researcher at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society. Since November 2022 he is pursuing his doctoral degree in the context of the research group “Digital News Dynamics”. 

After finishing his bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Economics at the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, he achieved his master’s degree at the RWTH Aachen University in “Computational Social Systems”. Discovering early in his studies a passion for the Computational Social Sciences, his work is focused on the application of computational methods on topics of the social sciences. Lion’s focus is on investigating the influence of platform characteristics on communication and information dynamics and how the public discourse is altered through those characteristics.
