Leon Hellbach

Leon Hellbach is a research associate in the research group “Working with Artificial Intelligence” at the Weizenbaum Institute. He studied social sciences at Humboldt University Berlin and is interested in the topics of digitalization and political economy, particularly in the area of digital platforms. In his previous research, he investigated new challenges for companies, works councils and trade unions posed by algorithmic management systems. Moreover, he has examined the significance of algorithmic matching systems in recruitment for the organization of labour power in the platform economy.
In the research group, he works closely together with Philip Wotschack on the use of Artificial Intelligence at work. In this context, he is involved in conducting qualitative case studies investigating new requirements in technology introduction processes, co-determination practices and human-machine interaction.
