Hans-Christian Gräfe

Hans-Christian Gräfe, LL.M. is a fully qualified lawyer and research associate at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society. There he is part of the “Digital Economy, Internet Ecosystem and Internet Policy“ research group. Previously, he was associated with the TU Berlin Research Group on “Data, Algorithmic Systems, and Ethics“. However, he started his path at the Weizenbaum-Instiut as a member of the Responsibility and the “Internet of Things“ (RIoT) research group.

His research interests lie mainly in media and information law, more specifically in online media law, especially on the impact of technology on communication and media. In this context, the focus is on challenges to the opinion formation process, e.g., through the use of Big Data applications in social media. He oversees various teaching assignments at universities and colleges, including in private commercial law as well as media and social media law.

In addition, Hans has been involved with for years. There he is a member of the editorial core team and deals with media and copyright law issues as well as the organization of the Telemedicus summer conference. Parallel to his work at the Weizenbaum Institute, Hans is a visiting scholar at the University of Potsdam and is completing the MBA Digital Media Law and Management in cooperation with the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, the University of Potsdam and the Erich Pommer Institute.
