Dr. Daniela Stoltenberg
About
Daniela Stoltenberg leads an Emmy Noether Group on local digital public spheres at the Weizenbaum-Institute. She researches political communication on social media, particularly centering questions of communication geography. She is interested in the role of place and space as well as closeness and distance in the formation of political discourses. She primarily works with Computational Social Science methods as well as mixed-methods designs.
Daniela holds a PhD in Media and Communication Science from Freie Universität Berlin where she also studied communication science and political science. Her dissertation, published under the title “The Spaces of Public Issues: How Social Media Discourses Shape Public Imaginations of Issue Spatiality” (Routledge, 2024) received the German Communication Association’s (DGPuK) dissertation award.
