Baoning Gong
About
Baoning Gong is a research associate and doctoral researcher in the Methods Lab and in the research group “Dynamics of Digital Mobilization.” She completed her master’s degree in Media and Political Communication at Freie Universität Berlin.
In her dissertation, she examines the mobilization of far-right social movements across different social media platforms from a comparative perspective, with a particular focus on identity appeals. Her research further includes the analysis of strategies employed by various far-right actors, such as political parties, media outlets, and influencers, as well as their interplay within a right-wing information ecosystem. Her work employs social network analysis as well as quantitative and qualitative content analysis methods. In the Methods Lab, she supports the institute’s research groups in building methodological expertise and provides consultation on study design and data analysis.
