Anouk van der Veer
Person
Anouk is a third-year Ph.D. Researcher at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. Her research focuses on how to take account of continously changing markets in merger assessments. Industry-wide changes, such as the trend towards more sustainable alternatives, electrification and (generative) AI, challenge existing products but often out of the (antitrust) market: how to account for the cross-market competitive pressure in a merger assessment? My project at the Weizenbaum-Institut zooms in on the competitive dynamics of generative AI.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Utrecht University, as well as a Master’s Degree in Corporate Law and Law & Economics. During her studies, she worked as a Paralegal in the competition practice of a large law firm and as a Junior Researcher at Utrecht University.
She is a Young Scholar at the Dynamic Competition Initiative (DCI), coordinator of the Competition Law Working Group at the EUI, and coordinator of publications at the Network Law Review.
