PD Dr. Florian Butollo
Florian Butollo leads the research group “Work with Artificial Intelligence” at the Weizenbaum Institute. He is responsible for several projects based at the Social Science Research Center Berlin and associated with the Weizenbaum Institute - on the consequences of the pandemic for digitalization in the world of work (funded by BMAS), on the regulation of algorithmic management in the world of work (EU Commission), and on the restructuring of global value chains in the wake of the pandemic (DFG).
Florian Butollo habilitated at the University of Göttingen in 2023. The title of his cumulative habilitation thesis, which bundles 14 papers between 2016 and 2022, is “Digital Revolution and Gradual Change. The transformation of value systems and work as embedded transformation“. His dissertation, “The End of Cheap Labor. Industrial Transformation and Social Upgrading in China” received several awards and was shortlisted for the prestigious Estoril Global Issues Distinguished Book Prize.
Florian Butollo was an expert in the Enquete Commission “Artificial Intelligence” of the German Bundestag in 2018-20 and a member of the ad-hoc group “Algorithmic Management” of the BMAS on the occasion of the Digital Summit in 2022-23.
