Towards a Multimodal Analysis of Online Antisemitism

In his talk, Marcus Scheiber will introduce the project „Towards a Multimodal Analysis of Online Antisemitism". The project is currently still at an early stage, so the presentation will focus primarily on the conceptual and methodological foundations, the structure of the corpora and initial test runs, and will illustrate the analysis steps using examples from the data.

Marcus Scheiber is a research associate in the DECORA (Decoding Online Right-Wing Antisemitism) project at the Weizenbaum Institute. Within the broader DAYVid consortium, he investigates how antisemitic communication strategies on YouTube are constructed multimodally, through the interplay of language, visuals, and platform logics.
