Excellent research, interdisciplinarity, the promotion of young scientists and a focus on dialog and transfer - these guidelines translate our basic values for the work in the research groups - the guidelines for research groups and doctoral candidates are aligned with the basic values outlined in the general mission statement of the Weizenbaum Institute.

    In this mission statement, recommendations and proposals are formulated to link the doctoral phase with the fundamental values of openness, participation, transfer, diversity and internationality. In this way, an interdisciplinary and international Weizenbaum research culture is to be structurally strengthened.

Code of conduct for safeguarding good research practice at the Weizenbaum Institute

The Weizenbaum Institute (WI) lives a culture of interdisciplinary, open and socially responsible research that is committed to the well-being of humankind. The WI’s mission to critically accompany digitalization processes can only be achieved through good research practice. With the Code of conduct for safeguarding good research, the Institute implements the "Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice" of the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Members of the Institute can turn to the ombudspersons at the Weizenbaum Institute in cases of conflict and preventively for questions in the areas of good scientific practice and scientific integrity. The code to ensure good scientific practice at the Weizenbaum Institute is currently being revised. A central component of the code is the ombudsman system, which defines the ombudsman activities as well as the procedure for dealing with cases of conflict and scientific misconduct.
