From disinformation campaigns to far-right messaging strategies: This panel discussion will analyze the challenges facing our democratic institutions and journalistic reporting.

A decisive and fast-moving electoral campaign has begun. Until February 23, journalists face the pressing challenge of reporting on elections shaped by intricate national and global political forces. This event offers a deep dive into the political and communicative currents driving this moment.

From disinformation campaigns to the strategies of far-right messaging strategies, we will analyze the challenges facing our democratic institutions and journalistic reporting. What is at stake? And how can we strengthen the resilience of democracy in a time of global and national uncertainties?

In this panel discussion, researchers

  • Prof. Dr. Jeanette Hofmann, Principal Investigator at the Weizenbaum Institute
  • Dr. Clara Keller, Research Group Lead at the Weizenbaum Institute
  • Dr. Curd Knüpfer, Associate Professor für Politische Kommunikation am Digital Democracy Centre of the University of Southern Denmark und Associate Researcher at the Weizenbaum Institute

will present current research findings and show concrete solutions for dealing with disinformation and polarization.

The evening will be moderated by Publix director Maria Exner.
