After training as an office administrator and studying business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt, specialising in controlling and corporate accounting, Xiao Zhu worked as an accountant at the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Berlin. He then headed the finance team of the Association for Intercultural Work Regional Association Berlin/Brandenburg e.V. for more than six years. (VIA). Since October 2020, he has been working as an Administrative Assistant, Third-party Funding at the Weizenbaum Institute e.V.
