About

Yao Qu is a third-year PhD candidate in Public Policy and Global Affairs at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. With an interdisciplinary background bridging AI technology and social sciences, Yao focuses on the transformative impact of AI in academia and public policy. Her current research at the Weizenbaum Institute explores how AI tools like ChatGPT reshape academic practices, ethical considerations, and disciplinary norms, contributing to the digital transformation of education and research.

Yao holds a Master of Philosophy in Planning, Growth, and Regeneration from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Sichuan University. Her academic pursuits include AI ethics, public policy, and educational technology. She has presented her work at leading international conferences, including the Annual International Conference on Digital Government Research (dg.o) and the Academy of Management (AOM). Her publications address key issues such as biases in AI-driven public opinion analysis and disciplinary differences in AI adoption within academia.

Beyond research, Yao is a reviewer for Research Policy and has been recognized for her collaborative achievements, including first prize in the ComSoc Social Network Technical Committee competition.
