Victoria Vziatysheva
About
Victoria Vziatysheva is a PhD student at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Bern. In collaboration with the 'Platform Algorithms and Digital Propaganda' group at the Weizenbaum Institute, she is investigating the dissemination and perception of misinformation and propaganda on algorithm-driven platforms, such as search engines and AI chatbots.
At the University of Bern, she is participating in an SNF-funded project investigating the use of search engines in the context of referenda in Switzerland. Her primary interest lies in how users search for political information on algorithmic platforms, including AI chatbots, and the extent to which this process is influenced by individual beliefs, knowledge, and cognitive characteristics. In her work, she mainly employs quantitative methods, such as surveys and experiments. Victoria also has extensive experience working in journalism.
In Bern, Victoria has taught courses on algorithmic bias and generative AI, and has represented mid-level academic staff.
