Vasilisa Kuznetsova

About
During her stay at WI, Vasilisa plans to work on two projects. The first examines how public discourse on climate change shifts on Meta platforms following the cancellation of the U.S. fact-checking program in January 2025. This study involves a longitudinal audit of search results on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, analyzing the distribution of credible information versus misinformation, as well as the political leanings of news media accounts.
In the second project, she studies bots and coordinated behavior on Twitter (now X) in the context of the war in Ukraine. This study employs a mixed methods approach to detect bot-like accounts at scale and examine their communicative strategies.
She is currently a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI), University of Bremen. In her PhD, she examines the role of social media platforms in shaping climate change discourse, focusing on content moderation policies and their enforcement.
