Lennart Kroll

Linux Server Administrator

About

Lennart Kroll is primarily responsible for administering the Linux servers at the Weizenbaum Institute. This includes optimizing the internal infrastructure, managing virtual machines, and automating recurring processes using tools such as Ansible.

Before joining the institute, he completed an apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration at a media agency in Berlin Kreuzberg. He then gained work experience as a Linux system engineer in an agency environment, where he implemented Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with Puppet.

He is also very interested in open-source development and Linux in his private life and has already written several apps for Ubuntu Touch. He is actively involved in the further development of free software alternatives, either in the form of code, documentation, or donations. Independence from big tech and digital sovereignty are particularly important to him.
