About

Farhan's academic and professional background lies at the intersection of public policy research, AI ethics, and responsible algorithmic design. As a Consultant, he has engaged with governments, think tanks, and nonprofits to drive data-informed policy implementation. As a Data Science student at Hertie School, he focuses on advanced machine learning methods and effective regulation for AI in solving high-risk challenges in climate change and digitization.

As a part of the research group “Platform Algorithms and Digital Propaganda“, Farhan assists with quantitative research and computational analysis across various projects. He is currently performing algorithm audits for various search engines using prompt engineering with multilingual LLMs.

Previously, he worked with Deloitte, where his role primarily involved assessing various forms of technical and regulatory risks and proposing controls to improve fairness, transparency, and robustness against malicious data attacks. Given his interest in interdisciplinary social science research, he is keen on exploring emerging methods of measuring the extent
of bias in online content creation, as well as the trends in changing belief systems and polarization due to Generative AI and large language models.
