Dr. Dilrukshi Gamage

Dilrukshi Gamage is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Colombo School of Computing, Sri Lanka, and an emerging scholar in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and computational social science. During her time at the Weizenbaum Institute, she is focused on investigating how digital platforms influence public discourse, particularly the role of AI-generated content such as deepfakes in shaping journalistic practices. Her research aims to develop tools that foster digital literacy, using innovative HCI methods to empower users to critically engage with online content.
Gamage holds a PhD in Computer Science, specializing in HCI. Her primary research interests include combating misinformation, understanding user behavior on social platforms, and designing interactive systems for social good. With an academic career rooted in Sri Lanka, she has built an impressive portfolio of interdisciplinary projects that bridge technology and society. Her commitment to responsible technology development positions her as a key contributor to global discourses on ethical AI.
Beyond academia, Gamage actively contributes to international conferences, such as CHI and CSCW, through workshops and presentations on responsible AI and misinformation. She is a member of several global research networks, and her work has been recognized with travel grants and invitations to prestigious events such as Young Researcher as the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, Rising Star UC Brekerly.
