07/01/2026On 2 July 2026, we’re launching our new LinkedIn Campaign, “5 Reasons for the Weizenbaum Institute.” Follow us!
Researchers and leading voices from academia and civil society explain why independent research on digitalization matters for policymakers and society as a whole. Each contribution places current research in the context of national and European digital policy debates.
The series opens with the regulation of major online platforms under the Digital Services Act. It explores questions of digital public sphere governance, platform transparency and accountability, and the enforcement of regulatory frameworks—key areas of research at the Weizenbaum Institute.
Over the coming weeks, the series will address other major dimensions of the digital transformation, including democracy and public communication, changing labour and economic structures, social participation, and access to digital knowledge and infrastructure.
The series demonstrates how research at the Weizenbaum Institute helps make sense of current digital policy debates and provides evidence-based insights to inform political and societal decision-making.
