Ass. Prof. Dr. James Steinhoff

Über

James Steinhoff ist Assistenzprofessor an der School of Information and Communication Studies am University College Dublin in Irland. Während seines Fellopwships am Weizenbaum-Institut erforscht James die Automatisierung der Arbeit in der Softwareproduktion. Sein Ziel ist es, zu einem besseren sozioökonomischen Verständnis der Automatisierung im besonderen Kontext von Software beizutragen, die völlig andere Arbeitsprozesse und Automatisierungstechnologien umfasst als die konventionelle industrielle Produktion, auf die sich die meisten Forschungsarbeiten konzentrieren. Er ist Autor von Automation and Autonomy: Labour, Capital and Machines in the Artificial Intelligence Industry (2021, Palgrave Macmillan) und Mitautor von Inhuman Power: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Capitalism (2019, Pluto).  James hat an der University of Western Ontario in Medienwissenschaften promoviert und war als Postdoktorand an der University of Washington und der University of Toronto tätig.
