Research Ethics
The Weizenbaum Institute's Code of Conduct includes a commitment to establish a research ethics committee. This committee supports researchers by providing advice, conducting ethical assessments, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards, including considerations of dual use and abuse.
The Weizenbaum Institute made a commitment in its Code of Conduct for Safeguarding Good Research Practice to set up a committee for research ethics to support compliance with overarching and subject-specific ethical standards. The committee has the task of supporting researchers in applying for and implementing research projects by providing advice and carrying out ethical assessments of research projects (incl. dual use and/or abuse aspects).
Research Ethics Committee
The Research Ethics Committee was established in 2024. It supports researchers in applying for and implementing research projects by providing advice and carrying out ethical assessments of research projects (incl. dual use and/or abuse aspects). The work of the committee is based on the WI Code of Conduct for Safeguarding Good Research Practice, the core values of the institute’s mission statement, any subject-specific and interdisciplinary regulations concerning research ethics, relevant legal provisions at state, federal and EU level and other relevant standards and materials. Further information is available at the Weizenbaum-Wiki.
