Jana Heim

About

Jana Heim is a research associate at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and at the Weizenbaum Institute. Her research lies at the intersection of organisation studies and science and technology studies. She conducts qualitative research on how AI systems are evaluated, negotiated, and accounted for in knowledge-intensive work. She holds an MA (with distinction) in sociology and technology studies from Technical University of Berlin. She co-founded the Research in Practice network for qualitative research, affiliated with the Weizenbaum Methods Lab, and she is a member of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology and of the sections Organizational Sociology and Science and Technology Studies of the German Sociological Association. Prior to joining the WZB, she worked in AI research and development in the software sector.
