Dynamics of Generative AI

Scholars from different fields – lawyers, economists, computer scientists, and social scientists – will be coming together at the Weizenbaum Institute to gather their knowledge around a central question: what will define the future of AI ecosystems?

Generative AI is capturing the attention and imagination of policymakers and researchers worldwide. Hundreds of working papers are being published every month, while technical advances are blossoming daily. These are exciting times for researchers. Against this backdrop, the Weizenbaum Institute together with the Amsterdam Law & Technology Institute organized a symposium, published in the Network Law Review, and a follow-up conference on March 22nd, 2024 at the Weizenbaum Institute.

The various contributions deal with questions ranging from the dynamics of infrastructure necessary for generative AI, the role of intellectual property, aspects of competition and innovation, to market power and regulation. The collection of these papers can be found here: https://www.networklawreview.org/category/ai-dynamics/

The conference is conducted under the scientific direction of Thibault Schrepel (ALTI) and Volker Stocker, who leads the Weizenbaum Research Group Digital Economy, Internet Ecosystem, and Internet Policy. The event will feature those top scholars and experts who contributed to the symposium, including Beatriz Botero Arcila (Sciences Po Paris), Flavio Calvino (OECD), Chiara Criscuolo (OECD), Lawrence David (US Department of Justice), Michal Gal (University of Haifa), Robert Mahari (MIT), Shayne Longpre (MIT), Orly Lobel (University of San Diego), Jason Potts (RMIT University), Michal Shur-Ofry (Haifa University), Cass R. Sunstein (Harvard University), Anouk van der Veer (EUI), Axel Voss (European Parliament), Christopher S. Yoo (University of Pennsylvania) and others!

Participation at the conference is based on invitation only. But you can register here to receive the recordings.
