Simon Schrör

Simon Schrör is a sociologist and head of the research group „Normsetting and decision processes”. Before, he led the reseach group „Shifts in norm setting” from 2020 to 2022 at Weizenbaum Institute. His research focuses on questions of intellectual property, the digitalization of cultural goods and -industries and the sociology of law and conventions. He is doing his doctorate under Prof. Dr. Rainer Diaz-Bone at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Lucerne.

Simon Schrör studied sociology at the University of Duisburg-Essen and graduated in 2015 with the thesis "Migration as a Challenge for the National Welfare State" under Prof. Dr. Anja Weiß. He then studied sociology M.A., also in Duisburg, with a focus on social comparison and transnationalisation. He completed his Master's degree in 2018 with distinction and the thesis: "The effects of legal uncertainty on conventions of production in the low budget music industry" in the DFG project: "Organized Creativity" under Prof. Dr. Sigrid Quack. From 2015 to 2018, he worked as a student and research assistant at the Chair of Sociological Theory under Prof. Dr. Gregor Bongaerts in Duisburg.
