Dr. Vanessa Yim
About
During her visit, Vanessa Yim will collaborate with Jennifer Haase, who leads the Security and Transparency in Digital Processes, to work on using LLMs to simulate patients with eating disorders and ultimately develop stable personas and simulate therapy processes using LLM-simulated patients and LLMs as therapists.
Vanessa is interested in applied research to address real-world clinical issues. Her research interests include three broad aspects: (1) Examining the psychopathology of eating disorders and improving the effectiveness of psychological treatments for individuals with body image concerns, including digital CBT interventions and early intervention approaches, (2) Improving access to timely, evidence-based support for disadvantaged populations, including those who have experienced violence and psychological trauma, (3) Using participatory and creative approaches to understand and improve mental health at the community level.
