About

Sreekanth Mukku is a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Political Science, University of Duisburg-Essen. During the fellowhsip, his research at the Weizenbaum Institute will critically examine how power shifts between state and BigTech actors take place in India, a key site in the global AI value chain, influencing policy transmission and there by impacting workforce development planning. 

Sreekanth spent 15 years in marketing and strategy roles at major technology corporations, including IBM, Oracle, and Deloitte in India, before transitioning to technology policy research with non-profit and research organizations in Germany. His interest in the political economy of global AI acceleration, extractivism, and concentration of Big Tech power shaped his current doctoral project.

Sreekanth's research was published by various think tanks and foundations, including Heinrich Boell Foundation, Konnektiv Kollektiv GmbH, IT for Change, BotPopuli. Sreekanth runs a blog networkedfufuters.org to write on the global political economy of AI.
