Mariia Safonova
About
Mariia Safonova is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Global East Asia at Freie Universität Berlin. Prior to that, she earned her bachelor’s degree in World Economy and International Politics with a focus on East Asian Studies at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. Her studies combine her interests in international relations, internet governance, and regional studies.
Since May 2026, she has been working as a student assistant at the Weizenbaum Institute on the Responsible UX Design project. The project focuses on ethical issues surrounding user experience and manipulative design techniques. She develops teaching materials and supports research on responsible and user-centered approaches in digital technology.
In addition to her studies, she has also worked as a tutor and project manager.
