About

Prof. Dr. Dominic Nyhuis is Professor of Quantitative Political Science Methods at Leibniz University Hannover. He received his PhD in political science from the University of Mannheim in 2015 and subsequently held a DAAD Visiting Assistant Professorship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, after earlier positions in Hannover, Frankfurt am Main, and Vienna. His research covers comparative legislative studies, political representation, political communication, and subnational politics. He has helped establish computational methods for data collection and text analysis in political science, and is a leading expert on German local politics, bringing comparative and quantitative approaches to a level the field has long overlooked.

The primary objective of the fellowship with the Research Group Dynamics of Digital Mobilization is to foster future cooperation through joint discussion and exchange of research ideas, research proposals, and study designs related to political communication, political elite behavior on digital platforms, and content that is detrimental to functional digital public spheres, such as disinformation and hate speech.
