About
Daria Onitiu’s work focuses on translating real-world concerns about the safety, security, ethics and responsible use of AI systems into regulatory frameworks, such as the EU AI Act and the EU Medical Device Regulation, EU fundamental rights and platform regulation.
Previously, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the Trustworthiness Auditing for AI project (Oxford Internet Institute) and the UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Governance and Regulation Node (University of Edinburgh). Her PhD in law examined the fundamental rights implications of algorithmic personalisation systems, bridging law, computer science and fashion theory.

Ethics and Governance of Innovation
The research project undertakes cross-disciplinary analysis of the unique ethical, technical, and policy challenges posed by emerging information technologies. The project is engaged with a variety of streams of enquiry examining critical questions about the role of technological innovation in society, focusing in particular on predictive and generative AI.
