About

Barbarella Petz is a PhD candidate at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a research assistant at the Chair of Human-Computer Interaction. She investigates the application and design of Large Language Models (LLMs) for the detection and explanation of disinformation. The aim of her research is to strengthen critical reflection skills and digital literacy within society. She is interested in developing and evaluating systems that are both efficient and intuitive to use.

She completed her bachelor’s degree in Media Informatics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and her master’s degree in Human Factors at Technische Universität Berlin. She wrote her master’s thesis on conversational agents at the Institute of Applied Informatics and Formal Description Methods at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. During her master’s studies, she spent a year abroad studying Human-Technology Interaction at Eindhoven University of Technology.
