Andressa Costa
Andressa Costa is a Brazilian PhD candidate in Political Science at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP, University of Lisbon), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She is currently a Researcher at the Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies (CAPP). Additionally, Andressa serves as a Visiting Professor at the São Paulo School of Sociology and Politics (FESPSP) and collaborates as a Researcher at the Laboratory of Media and Public Sphere Studies (LEMEP, Rio de Janeiro State University - UERJ).
Her research primarily focuses on political behavior, specifically political participation and mobilization, political communication, and social media.
During her stay at the Weizenbaum Institute she will focus on understanding how social media has been used to mobilize citizens against democracy in Brazil. Her objective is to develop an analytical framework to assess how cognitive and emotional elements have been employed to spread illiberal and authoritarian discourses on social media.
