In his talk, Prof. Dr. Thomas Burri (University of St. Gallen) will present the first comprehensive “Evaluation Schema” for autonomous security systems.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Burri, Assistant Professor of International Law and European Law at University of St. Gallen, will give a talk entitled “The Ethical Gestalt of Autonomous Security Systems”. In it he will present the first comprehensive “Evaluation Schema” for autonomous security systems, including weapons systems, which he developed together with an interdisciplinary team of researchers under the leadership of Dr. Markus Christen, University of Zurich. Prof. Burri will discuss the system’s strengths and weaknesses and show how and where to deepen in the future. After the talk there will be time for discussion. The event will take place in English.

The talk is based on a paper available here: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3063617 (only the first 20 pages cover the actual evaluation schema). Prof. Burri is also the organizer of a conference on “Ethical and Legal Aspects of Autonomous Security Systems” which is taking place in May 2019 at the University of Zurich.
