Prof. Dr. Fabricio Polido

Ehemaliger Research Fellow

Fabricio is Professor of Law at the Federal University of Minas Gerais – UFMG, Brazil. He studied Law in Sao Paulo (LL.B. degree), Tübingen (exchange year) and Turin, Italy (LL.M. in International Intellectual Property Law) and finished his Doctoral degree in Sao Paulo in 2010, focusing on International IP Law, international trade and public domain. At UFMG his research, teaching and supervision activities cover Private International Law, International Intellectual Property Law, Comparative Law and Internet Law. Before taking up his position as (tenured) professor at University of Minais Gerais, he has been assistant professor at the University of Sao Paulo, taught at the WIPO Academy and worked as Research Fellow of the IP Working Group of the International Trade Law and Development Institute. He also practised law with a law firm in Sao Paulo, advising on international business transactions, international commercial arbitration, Intellectual Property and Internet Law.

His most recent publications and scholarly work cover Private International Law with a focus on digital technology, Transnational Labour Law and Internet Governance matters, Philosophy of International Law and Intellectual Property Law. In Brazil he is also founder and member of the scientific board of IRIS – Institute for Research in Internet & Society, and has been active in several scientific associations, such as the American Association of Private International Law, Brazilian Research Network of Private International Law and Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property-ABPI. In addition, Fabricio is currently acting as expert member of the Brazilian delegation to the Hague Conference of Private International Law, in particular for the Special Commission on the negotiation of the draft Hague Judgements Convention.
