Weizenbaum-Institut e.V.

Tasks of the Association

The Weizenbaum-Institut e.V. unites eleven research groups and other research units and also acts as the coordinator of the network.

The members of the Weizenbaum-Institut e.V. are the seven partners of the research network project: Freie Universität Berlin (FU), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU), Technische Universität Berlin (TU), Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK), Universität Potsdam (UP) as well as the Fraunhofer-Institut für Offene Kommunikationssysteme (FOKUS) and the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB).

Managing Board

The Managing Board of the Weizenbaum-Institut e.V. is responsible, among other things, for the further development of the institute's strategy in cooperation with the executive board and its other bodies. Further, it oversees the institute’s development and implementation of consolidation concepts in cooperation with the Managing Board and with other bodies of the institute. Other responsibilities include the external representation of the institute, the coordination of the cooperation within the Weizenbaum research network, as well as reporting to the Board of Trustees and its members.

Office Managing Board and Research Coordination

Research Management

The research management department is responsible for the following areas: Quality management, coordination of the further development of the research agenda and its interdisciplinarity, internationalization, networking in the science field, promotion of young researchers and career support, research data management and Open Science, and committee work. The aim of these activities is to strengthen the Institute's network and visibility and to translate the working principles defined in the mission statement into structures and processes within the Institute.

Communication

The communications department is responsible for all public relations issues and uses various formats and channels to communicate the Institute's work to different target groups. The staff manages the website, answers press enquiries, finds interview partners and edits the Weizenbaum publications. In addition, the team is responsible for the Institute's internal communication.

Transfer and Dialogue

With its transfer activities, the Institute wants to promote interest in science, contribute to social enlightenment and education and help shape the social dialogue. Further, the transfer activities aim to make research-based knowledge available for decision-making processes and to develop options for action to overcome social challenges. This results in fields of action with different requirements for formats, channels and instruments for transfer measures.

Human Ressources

The team in our Human Resources department takes care of the employees of the Weizenbaum-Institut e.V. From advertising to recruitment and career management, our scientific and non-scientific staff continuously receive the individual support they need for a fulfilling career with us.

Finance Department

The Finance department is responsible for day-to-day accounting, cost and performance accounting, purchasing, procurement and commercial processing, as well as the management of grants and financial reporting.

IT

The IT department of the Weizenbaum-Institut provides the staff of the Weizenbaum-Institut e.V. and the scientists with a powerful and modern IT environment. In addition to the maintenance and continuous development of the existing infrastructure, the department's services also include adequate support and the coordination of external service providers.
