Prof. Dr. Jing Zeng
Person
Jing Zeng is a Professor in Computational Communication Science at the Department of Media and Communication Research at the University of Zurich and a previous Assistant Professor of Digital Methods and Critical Data Studies at Utrecht University.
Her research concerns the sociocultural implications of digital technologies, with a particular focus on developing innovative digital methods for empirical research. Her research interests include science communication, digital technologies, and platform studies. She received her PhD from the Digital Media Research Center (DMRC) at the Queensland University of Technology, and her MSc from the Oxford Internet Institute.
As a Fellow of the research group "Dynamics of Digital Mobilization" at the Weizenbaum Institute, she will engage in collaborative work related to the cross-platform analysis of digital political communication on various social media platforms and several types of content detrimental to functional digital public spheres, such as conspiracy theories, disinformation, and hate speech.
